To be eligible for student loan funds, you must:
- Complete a FAFSA and be awarded financial aid from Century College.
Your Award Letter shows you how much you are eligible to borrow during the academic year.
- Be enrolled for a minimum of six credits during the term for which you are applying for the loan.
If you want to borrow some or all of your Direct Loan funds, you must request the amount you wish to
borrow by following these loan instructions:
Direct Loans
Step 1 – Entrance Counseling
If this is your first student loan at Century, you are required to complete Entrance Counseling.
Select “Complete Entrance Counseling.” When you have finished the Entrance Counseling session, continue
your loan request by completing a Master Promissory Note (Step 2 below).
Note: You are only required to do Entrance Counseling for Century College once, so if you’ve requested loan funds through Century in the past, you can skip this step.
Step 2 – Master Promissory Note (MPN)
If this is your first Direct Loan, you are required to sign an MPN.
Select “Complete Master Promissory Note,” then “Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan” and follow the required
steps.
Note: If you have requested Direct Loan funds in the past and have an MPN on file, you do not have to complete another one.
Close www.studentloans.gov and proceed to Step 3 below.
Step 3 – Indicate the Loan Amount and Loan Period
- Go to the “Century Direct Login” at the top of this page (www.century.edu)
- Select “Student Portal”
- Log in using your Century username (first 4 letters and first 4 numbers of your Century email address) and password
- On the left side of the screen, select “Apply for a Direct Loan.” Enter the amount you want and the semester(s) for which you want the funds.
If you choose a loan period of:
- Fall Only – the amount you request will come for Fall semester
- Fall and Spring – the amount you request will be divided in two equal halves, with half coming for Fall semester and half for Spring semester
- Spring Only – the amount you request will come for Spring semester
- Summer Only – the amount you request will come for Summer semester
If you’ve done your loan request correctly, the funds will be sent to Century College’s Business Office
and be credited to your tuition account. If there are excess funds, the Business Office will mail you a
check or direct deposit that amount. If you still owe a balance after the loan proceeds have been credited,
check your account online and pay the amount due.
NOTE: Financial aid funds, including loan disbursements, arrive at the College no sooner than the 11th day
of the semester.
