When you take Chemistry courses at Century, you will not only learn
about the structure of atoms and
molecules, the states of matter, and the principles of chemical reactivity, you will also learn how
scientists think.
You will also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and
utilize the equipment
and technology used by chemists.

(Note: The Century College Nursing program requires this course.)
Four-year degree requirements
The Principle of Chemistry I and II sequence (Chem 1041 and 1042)
is needed if you want to pursue a four-year degree in:
- chemistry
- biochemistry
- biology
- nursing
- engineering
- kinesiology
This course sequence is also required by physical therapy programs and by pharmacy, medical, dental,

In recent years, Century chemistry students have been accepted into the nationally competitive
Lando/NSF Chemistry Summer Research Program at the University of Minnesota
Flexible learning options
Century offers evening courses in Chem 1020 and Chem 1041.
In spring 2008, we began to offer an online Chem 1020 course.
